Having an appropriate level of fitness is important for everyone, but is particularly important for geologists who are about to embark on a field season. This spring Barb Dutrow and Darrell Henry decided to offer a series of fitness sessions around the University Lakes for students or faculty getting ready for field camp or just wanting a little more conditioning. This program, mid-March to mid-May, is designed to help increase the endurance and aerobic activity of the participants and have fun doing it! Working out with a partner, or group, adds the social aspect to overcome (perceived) boredom or drudgery of training.
The suggested exercise program, goals and times of the activities are on a separate website. The student chapter of AAPG has supported this endeavor with the purchase of sports drinks and water. All Geoscience folks are invited to participate.
