Opportunities for UG Research with Dutrow
Fluids, Minerals, Rocks
Many opportunities exist to combine your geologic studies
with research in geology. Why not use that mineralogy, optical, computer
science, calculus, petrology and/or geochemisty? Any or all of these
areas can be combined for a research experience. Current areas of interest
include: computational modeling of fluid-rock interactions, development of
contact aureoles, textural modeling of mineral growth, the mineralogy of
fluid infiltrated rocks, crystal chemistry of rock forming minerals, development
and mineralogy of pseudomorphs as indicators of fluid history and the
metamorphic petrology of NW Maine and the Sawtooth Mtns, Idaho. In addition,
samples from several field areas of fluid infiltrated rocks are available,
from California to Maine.
Please contact Dr. Dutrow if you are interested.
