Guidelines for Evaluation of Speakers/Presentation
Geoscience presentations will increase your knowledge of geology,
provide current ideas of groundbreaking research in various fields, demonstrate
how scientific priniciples are applied to research topics and
give you an opportunity to evaluate technical presentations, the do's as well
as the don'ts.
For each seminar, please attend. Use the following questions to guide
your evaluation. Evaluations from seminars are due the following Wed. in class.
- 1.
- Give the title of the presentation and the name, affiliation
of the presenter.
- 2.
- Summarize the technical content of the presentation, in a
page or two (somewhat detailed).
- 3.
- What were the major discoveries/conclusions? Were they supported
by data?
- 4.
- Explain and evaluate the effectiveness of the presentation
- (a)
- Was it well organized?
- (b)
- Were the graphics visable and useful?
- (c)
- Did the speaker talk to you?
- 5.
- List several helpful aspects of how material was presented
- 6.
- List suggestions for improvement
- 7.
- How would you rate the presentation? Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor?

- Keep these in mind for your presentations!
- 9.
- Be prepared to discuss these in class. We will discuss Pro's first, then Con's,
please organize similarily.
