Silt Sediments
In this scanning electron microscope picture, silt-sized
particles smaller than 0.02mm in size and the cement holding the silt-sized
particles together can be seen very clearly. The cement appears as a filmy
coating over the grains in the central part of this photo. The grains with
sharp edges are not covered with cement, indicating that the process of
cementation does not include all of the sedimentary particles in the specimen.
